I think my brain has a gremlin. And that might not be a bad thing. It’s helped me come up with some good story ideas. One of those is available for the first time today! More on that in a moment.

First, did you see the movie Gremlins? Every time one of the nice furry creatures got wet, something mischievous happened. It’s the same with me.

When I was at the beach, I got the idea for Tales From a Roundabout. I was at a pool when I fleshed out the characters. When I’m in the shower, I’m always thinking about the plot.

Water = Literary shenanigans.

The downside is the gremlin messes with my memory. So, sometimes I forget important dates or the location of my car when I come out of a store.

The whole idea of a gremlin comes from aviation. Pilots used to blame mechanical failures on mythical creatures called gremlins. It comes from the Old English word “gremian” which means “to vex.” It’s believed that military officers knew morale would plummet if pilots blamed each other for mishaps so they invented the idea of the gremlin. I think that’s a cover-up, though. Gremlins are real. And the one in my brain helped me conceive a crazy new set of stories that you can check out below. In the meantime, I’ve got to find somewhere to go with a beach or a pool. Because the gremlin is nowhere near finished.

Carry on, Citizens!
